Tijuana has the largest concentration of medical device manufacturers in North America, and the Tijuana–Mexicali corridor accounts for more than half of Mexico's medical device exports across 75-plus manufacturers employing tens of thousands of people. It is the cluster most likely to be hiring engineers and quality specialists.
Electronics & consumer manufacturing

The city built its industrial base on television and consumer electronics assembly and still runs one of the densest supplier networks on the continent. Over 600 maquiladoras operate in Tijuana across every sector.
Aerospace
Honeywell, Safran, Zodiac/Collins suppliers, Gulfstream-linked contract manufacturers
Tijuana holds Mexico's largest concentration of aerospace maquiladoras, which is a different skill profile from the medical cluster — machining, composites and certification-heavy quality systems.
Cross-border services & shared services
Bilingual call centres, logistics brokers, customs agencies, back offices for San Diego firms
A large bilingual workforce, many of them deportees or returnees who grew up in the United States, makes Tijuana a serious location for English-language customer operations. Customs brokerage and cross-border logistics are a substantial professional employer in their own right.
Medical & dental tourism
Independent clinics along Av. Revolución and the Zona Río, plus large dental and bariatric groups
Hundreds of thousands of Americans cross annually for dental work, prescriptions and elective procedures. For residents that translates into unusually cheap and abundant private care and an English-speaking clinical workforce.
Food, craft beer & wine
Cervecería Insurgente, Border Psycho, Mamut, plus the Valle de Guadalupe wineries an hour and a half south
Baja Med cooking was invented in this city and the craft-brewing scene is among Mexico's oldest and best. The Valle de Guadalupe wine region is close enough to be a weekend habit rather than a holiday.
