Poznańruns on a handful of strong industries. If you’re job-hunting or weighing a move, here’s where the opportunities (and the big-name employers) are.
Top industries & employers
Automotive manufacturing
Volkswagen Poznań, Solaris, Exide, Bridgestone
Volkswagen's Poznań operations — the Antoninek plants and the newer Września site — are the region's largest private employer and build commercial vehicles for the whole group. Solaris, at Bolechowo just north, is one of Europe's largest electric bus makers.
Logistics & warehousing
Amazon, Panattoni, Raben, DHL, Kuehne+Nagel
Poznań sits on the A2 roughly midway between Berlin and Warsaw, which is the entire explanation for the belt of distribution centres around the city. Amazon's Polish network is anchored here and hires at volume without requiring Polish.
Trade fairs & events
Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie
Founded in 1921 and the largest fair operator in Poland, with grounds beside the main station. It supports an entire local economy of stand builders, hospitality, translation and logistics that peaks several times a year.
Business services & IT
GSK, Franklin Templeton, Roche, Capgemini, Allegro
Allegro — Poland's dominant e-commerce marketplace — has deep engineering roots here, and the pharma and finance shared-service centres recruit in English. This is the usual route into the city for a foreign professional.
Food & FMCG
Kompania Piwowarska, Nivea Polska, Wyborowa, Bakoma
Wielkopolska is Poland's most productive agricultural region and Poznań is where that turns into brands. The Poznań University of Life Sciences supplies the food-technology pipeline.
Higher education & research
Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań University of Technology, Poznań University of Economics
Around a hundred thousand students. AMU's mathematicians broke the Enigma cipher in the early 1930s, which is why the Enigma Cipher Centre is here and why the university's computing tradition is taken seriously locally.
