The IFC was inaugurated in January 2026 under Decree 323/2025 as a testing ground for digital finance, green finance and new financial models — the first thing to give Da Nang a white-collar sector that is not tourism or outsourcing.

The FPT Complex and the Da Nang Software Park anchor a genuine engineering scene, historically weighted toward Japanese and American clients. Salaries sit below Hanoi and Saigon and so does the cost of living, which is why the churn is lower.
Tourism & hospitality
Sun Group, InterContinental, Furama, Vinpearl, TUI and charter operators
Still the largest private employer. Heavily seasonal and heavily exposed to Korean and Chinese charter traffic, which makes it a volatile sector to be employed in and a cheap city to live in during the wet months.
Logistics, ports & the free trade zone

Da Nang is the seaward end of the East-West Economic Corridor to Laos and Thailand, and the 1,881-hectare free trade zone approved in 2024 is Vietnam's first — manufacturing, logistics, trade and digital technology zones in one designation.
Seafood & fisheries
Thọ Quang fishing port, Seaprodex, Danifoods
One of central Vietnam's largest fishing fleets works out of Thọ Quang, and processing for export is a significant employer. It is also the reason the northern end of Sơn Trà smells of fish when the wind turns.
Education & language teaching
University of Da Nang, Duy Tân University, ILA, Apollo, VUS, international schools
A large university city with a steady demand for English teaching — the most common first job for foreigners here, and one where Decree 219's degree and experience requirements are applied strictly.
