Jobs in Abidjan

The sectors hiring, the employers to know, and how work really runs here.

Abidjanruns on a handful of strong industries. If you’re job-hunting or weighing a move, here’s where the opportunities (and the big-name employers) are.

Top industries & employers

Cocoa, cashew & agri-processing

SACO (Barry Callebaut), ofi, Cargill, Transcao CI, Touton, Sucden, SIFCA

Around 38% of the world's cocoa — roughly double second-placed Ghana — plus the world's largest raw cashew crop. The Conseil du Café-Cacao fixes the farmgate price twice a year and the whole country watches the number.

Development finance & multilaterals

African Development Bank, AfricaRice, IFC, UN agencies, AFD

The AfDB's headquarters returned from Tunis to the CCIA tower in Plateau in 2014 and anchors the city's international job market; Sidi Ould Tah became its ninth president in September 2025.

Banking & capital markets

Société Générale CI, BNI, NSIA Banque, Ecobank CI, SIB, Bank of Africa, BRVM

Twenty-eight licensed banks, and the BRVM on Rue Joseph Anoma is the stock exchange for all eight CFA-franc states — the central bank itself sits in Dakar, not here.

Oil, gas & power

Eni, PETROCI, Foxtrot International, SIR, CIE, Azito Energie, CIPREL

Eni's Baleine field took final investment decision on its third phase in May 2026, heading for 150,000 barrels a day, while Foxtrot's gas fuels roughly 90% of a grid that exports power to six neighbours.

Ports & logistics

Port Autonome d'Abidjan, AGL, Côte d'Ivoire Terminal, APM Terminals, Maersk

Traffic jumped from 40.1 to 46.6 million tonnes between 2024 and 2025. Note the name: Bolloré Africa Logistics became AGL under MSC ownership in 2023, and nobody is hiring under the old brand.

Telecom & fintech

Orange CI, MTN CI, Moov Africa, Djamo, Julaya, CinetPay, Bizao, Wave

Francophone Africa's most active startup scene: Djamo raised USD 17m in April 2025 as it passed a million customers, and Wave's flat 1% fee forced the incumbent telco wallets to cut their own.
